These Santa Hats are more of a kitchen craft than a recipe. But, they are really tasty and really cute and got approval from kids ages 9 to 23, and from the adults that got one as well. This year has been really insane, for almost everyone I know. And, Steve’s family Christmas party usually ends up at someone’s house. And, I usually make a dessert because I just like to make dessert. And, when you make desserts for a crowd, you don’t actually end up eating it all yourself, which is a good thing. This year, however, we went out. And, in addition to dessert, I usually give everyone cookies or bread or something to take home, but like I said things have been crazy, and I really haven’t baked except for one other event, so I made these for the kids.
These are mostly super easy. The bottoms are white fudge Oreos – you know the pre-made ones you buy at the store, but you could dip your own. And, the tops are just sugar cones dipped in red candy melts with a marshmallow also dipped in a touch of red candy melt to make it stick on top. The only difficult part is that the only cones I could find were slightly larger in diameter at the base than the Oreos. So, we had to cut them. When I say we, I mean Steve did. I recommend using a serrated knife for this and sawing back and forth. We had to shorten ours by about an inch to make them work, but maybe you can find smaller cones.

Yield 12
Ingredients
12 sugar cones
12 white fudge dipped Oreos
2 12 ounce packages red candy coating
12 small marshmallows
Instructions
Carefully cut the bottoms off of your sugar cones so that they are slightly smaller in diameter than the Oreos.
Melt candy coating in a fairly tall thin glass or bowl according to package directions.
Dip the cones in the coating, tip down holding the edge of the open end with your finger tips. Place on waxed paper to cool and set up. I've gotten pretty good at getting the whole cone dipped and then turning it tip up on the waxed paper. The first couple will be a bit of a challenge, but then it will get pretty easy.
When the cones have set up, dip the open ends in the melted candy just to cover any of the edges you didn't cover with the first dip and get the bottom edges coated, so that they will stick to the Oreos. Place on the Oreos like Santa hats.
Dip one edge of each marshmallow in the melted candy and press it into the tip of the cone.
Allow candy to set completely before serving.
